DenyLogin Homepage

This is the DenyLogin home page. DenyLogin is a shell you can use for accounts that you do not want to have login access to your machine. It provides a short customizable message to the user, waits for 30 seconds (or a key-press), and then exits. This program is written entirely in C, so it is safe from bugs in shell scripts or other similar solutions. This type of shell is most often useful in situations where you have e-mail only accounts (e.g. ISPs) or use NIS (YP) netgroups to restrict who can access certain machines in your domain.

The latest version is 1.0.5, which you can download via HTTP from here. You can also see a full list of all historical versions. You can also read the on-line manual page.

Note: These files are tar archives compressed with GNU zip. You can find both GNU zip and GNU tar at the main GNU repository located at ftp://prep.ai.mit.edu/pub/gnu. (Most UNIX vendors ship with a "tar" utility, so you'll probably only need GNU zip if you don't already have it.)
